As per the authorised officials of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority, Pune Metro Red Line is expected to become operational by the end of December 2025. Earlier, the completion deadline for Pune metro Line 3 was March 2025, which was then moved to September 2025.

As per the authorised officials, trial runs on the royte will begin from October or November 2025, after the construction gets completed in September 2025. The officials have disclosed that the stretch between Hinjewadi and Shivaji Nagar will first be operational.

Once operational, the route will provide direct and streamlined travel mode to the Hinjewadi Tech Park from various parts of the city. Hinjewadi Tech Park is one of the largest employment hubs in Pune.
