The Golden line Delhi Metro was previously known as the Silver line Delhi Metro. The line will connect Aerocity to Tuglakhabad station.

The colour of the Golden Line Delhi Metro was officially changed in January 2024. Earlier the colour was Silver and it was called Silver Line Delhi Metro. After that in November 2023 the colour code was changed to Gold colour. Later in January 2024 it was again changed to the Golden Line.

Delhi Metro Golden Line (Previously Silver Line) Details 

Delhi Metro’s Golden Line is part of phase 4 of the extensive Delhi Metro network. A mass rapid transit system, Delhi Metro is spread across the National Capital Region (NCR). The Delhi metro is demarcated with several colour-coded lines for each route. The Golden Line is the newest addition to the existing metro network in Delhi. 

The Golden Line of the Delhi Metro is line 10 of the Delhi Metro’s extensive network. The design and approval process of the Golden Line began a few years back. However, due to several delays, the project got delayed to a great extent. Currently, there are 15 proposed stations on the Delhi Metro Golden Line. The total length of the Golden Line is around 23.62 km. The line is likely to be completed by March 2026.

Once the line is completed and functional, it will be a major time-saver for several commuters and passengers. The company designing the Delhi Metro Golden Line will have to design and construct a 5 km long twin tunnel, underground ramp, and cut and cover tunnel box along with the underground stations.

Delhi Metro (Phase – IV)

Phase 4 of the Delhi Metro project will be a driverless network. With the successful operation of this phase, Delhi Metro will be among the top five driverless metro train systems worldwide. The length of the driverless system will be around 160 km. Phase 4 of the Delhi Metro project will cover Maujpur to Majlis Park, Janakpuri West to RK Ashram, and Tughlakabad to Aerocity.

The Delhi Metro Golden Line station in Tughlaqabad will be an interchange station at level 4. Therefore, to improve the station’s accessibility, stairs, lifts, and elevators will be installed. In addition, a 100-meter subway will also be there to connect the existing station at Tughlaqabad to the new interchange station. 

Delhi Metro Golden Line Timings 

The Delhi Metro Golden Line is under construction and will be completed by 2025. Thus, the timings and the line frequency have not been disclosed.  

Tughlakabad Metro Station as Interchange Facility 

The Tughlakabad metro station on the Golden Line Delhi Metro will be an interchange facility for the Golden and Violet line Delhi Metro.

Delhi Metro Golden Line Status

The tunnelling work of the stretch between the Kishangarh and Vasant Kunj metro stations on the Delhi Metro Golden Line has been completed. DMRC authorised officials have disclosed that the boring machine has completed evacuation at one tunnel at the Vasant Kunj station. The second tunnel on the same stretch of the Golden Line Metro is expected to be completed by June 2025. The construction work of the entire Delhi Metro Golden Line is expected to be completed by March 2026.
