In this blog, we have covered the Bangalore Chennai Expressway route map (Chennai to Bangalore), cost, expected toll rates etc. In one of his Union Budget speeches, the Chennai Bangalore Expressway (Chennai to Bangalore) was announced in the 1990s P Chidambaram; however, the project could not materialize back then. It was only finally in 2018 that this project was initiated. The National Highway Authority of India is developing this 258 km-long stretch. Features of Bangalore-Chennai Expressway

Chennai Bangalore Expressway is a significant project in South India. It is the first time the National Highway Authority of India is developing an expressway in the Southern states.

The following are the features of the project:

  • The travel time will be reduced significantly between the two cities- Bangalore and Chennai. Currently, it takes 5-6 hours to reach from one city to another, whereas, once the expressway is ready, the travel time will be reduced to 2.15 hours.

  • The distance between the cities is reduced by 80 km. The permitted speed on the expressway is 120km/hr.

  • The road will be well constructed, ensuring smooth traffic and more safety on the road.

  • Bangalore Chennai Expressway promotes the Chennai Bangalore Industrial Corridor, which aims to boost the area’s manufacturing sector.

  • The expressway will have necessary amenities like truck bays, underpasses for vehicles and animals, and pedestrian and traffic administration systems.

  • The cities falling on the expressway route are an excellent attraction for real estate investors because property prices may spike once the expressway is ready.

  • More employment opportunities will be created as the expressway starts from the Hoskote region, the automobile hub of Karnataka.

Chennai Bangalore Expressway Route

The Chennai Bangalore Expressway (Chennai to Bangalore) will be the shortest distance between these two cities. Currently, there are three more routes Hosur and Krishnagiri (Golden Quadrilateral), Old Madras Road, and the third route passes through Kolar-KGF-V Kota and Vellore. The Golden Quadrilateral is the most used of these three routes, which is approximately 380 km between the two cities. With the new upcoming expressway, the distance will be reduced, and travel will also be smoother and safer.

The Bangalore Chennai Expressway passes through three states- Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Cities like- Hoskote, Malur, Bangarapet, Kolar Gold Fields, Venkatagirikota, Palamaner, Bangarupalem, Chittoor, Ranipet, and Sriperumbudur lie on the Chennai Bangalore Expressway route.
